FAQ's
We are here to help.
Here are some of our most common questions that may help you with your choice. Have another question that isn't here?
Please ask, we would be more than happy to answer.
WHY CHOOSE US OVER DOING A DIY PROJECT?
We will give you a product with a professional finish.
Our lacquer finish is harder wearing for high handling areas and is the highest quality of all the products on the market.
WHAT LACQUER WE USE AND WHY?
We use PPG paint products as our main supplier. This gives us a wide range of products that can cater for your needs, in any colour of your choice.
I NORMALLY LIKE A OILED FINISHED WHY IS THIS BETTER?
Oiled furniture needs to be reoiled often to maintain. Lacquer lasts much longer, easier to clean and there is even ways to make it looked oiled, if it is the look you are after.
WHAT IS YOUR TURN AROUND TIME?
Paint takes time to dry. This can be a slightly longer time frame during winter months. We aim to get projects out as quickly as possible. We do like to allow around two weeks, please ask us for our current times.
CAN I PAINT OVER MELAMINE?
Yes. We can paint over your current melamine products such as kitchens and furniture. We do redo kitchens for the fraction of the price of a full new kitchen. A fresh new coat and new handles can completely change the look of your existing kitchen/space.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN MY LACQUERED PRODUCTS?
It is best to clean your lacquered kitchens and furniture with warm soapy water with a microfibre cloth. Never use harsh abrasive cleaners (such as silicone based), as this can contaminate the substrate. Scratches may also become visible.
Do not leave liquid spillages to pond on horizontally lacquered surfaces or to drip down vertical faces as discoloration and delamination of the lacquer is possible. Do not allow finger nail polishes and removers, personal deodorants, perfumes, aftershave lotions, soap, etc to come into contact with surface as bubbling and delamination may occur.
Do not use excessive force to remove stubborn dirt, grease, etc especially on satin or silky matt lacquers where the polishing effect will be noticed by shiny spots.
SHOULD I USE TWO PACK OR SINGLE PACK LACQUER?
Two pack polyurethane is a durable coating, great for busy environments such as kitchen bench tops, bathrooms and commercial jobs.
Single pack maybe more suitable for ceiling panels and wall units as these do not need to be as hard of wearing.
Chat to us about your needs and we will to give our advice.
CAN I GET MY STAINED ITEM RESTAINED?
Yes, we can do this for you. We can colour match it or help you pick a different colour. We will strip it back to its original colour, restain then apply a clear coat for protection. Cleaning products previously used can also affect the finish, we can talk to you about this.
Staining timber highlights the wood's natural grain and colours. While we do our best to match the overall colour, variance can sometimes be out of our control due to the timber’s natural resins, sap, colouring and unique knots.
PLEASE NOTE:
Do not drop or throw sharp or heavy objects against a lacquered surface as chipping and substrate indentation may occur.
Lacquer is only as strong as the substrate, damage to this with force either on purpose or accidental can cause deeper damage to your lacquer work or cabinetry. Items to watch out for include but not limited to; handles in drawers getting stuck, cleaning equipment such as mop or vacuum cleaner.
